Introducing the New Military/Veterans Survey for 2008

APF is committed to reaching out to Military and Veteran persons who suffer chronic daily pain and provide them with educational information to improve their pain care, decrease their sense of isolation, and support them in their pursuit of a better quality of life for themselves, their families and caregivers. So that we may better address those needs, we ask that you complete our New Military /Veterans Survey. Please help us so that we may better serve you.

Military Pain Care Act of 2008 Has Been Introduced!

The Military Pain Care Act of 2008 (HR 5465) has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. David Loebsack (IA-2). The successes of military health care both on and off the battlefield result in high survival rates of severely injured military personnel who will be afflicted with significant pain disorders on either an acute or chronic basis. Pain management is critical to restoring the lives of our servicemen and women. Please show your support for our troops by supporting this important legislation. CLICK HERE for more information and to TAKE ACTION NOW! There is strength in numbers.

Please view our endorsement request and join us by having your organization endorse the Consensus Statement supporting appropriate pain care for our military and their families. In Memoriam: Dr. Harvey L. Rose 2008

Dr. Harvey L. Rose, a family practitioner who successfully fought California state charges of prescribing too many pain medications to become a champion for the rights of patients and physicians to use effective drugs for chronic pain, died in January, 2008.

Dr. Rose was a leading medical advocate for using prescription medicines, including opioids, to alleviate chronic pain when other forms of treatment fail. He challenged the thinking of many physicians who avoid pain medications for fear of patient addiction or being disciplined for over-prescribing drugs. Read more...
