H1N1 FLU UPDATE
“H1N1 Flu (so called “Swine Flu”) A new strain of flu,
H1N1, began causing infection in the Spring of 2009. Because
this virus is so new, it has the potential to cause infection
in a large number of people. So far, most of the infections
have been mild. Severe outcomes, such as death, occur at a
rate less than the yearly seasonal flu.
Hines VA has received ample doses of vaccine for all
veterans. The H1N1 vaccine will be given in Employee Health
(Bldg 1-E120), Building 200 – 3rd and 4th Floor, and in the
Discharge Lounge in the front lobby. While many are worried
about this new H1N1, we want you to continue to protect
yourself from the seasonal flu. So be sure to get your flu
shot!”

Priority Group 8 Enrollment Relaxation Changes
The new regulations take effect on June 15, 2009 and enable
the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to relax income
restrictions on enrollment for health benefits. While this new
provision does not remove consideration of income, it does
increase income thresholds. You may be eligible for enrollment
under this new provision.
