Carroll E. Prosser was a disabled Vietnam War veteran who served honorably in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) beginning in 1992 and a devoted member of DAV Chapter 30 for twenty-five years. For more than thirteen of those years, he served with pride as Chapter 30 Commander.

Carroll was married to his wife, Lynn Prosser, and was a proud father of two sons and a grandfather to two grandsons. One grandson served as a Marine in Afghanistan, and the other served with the U.S. Army in Iraq. Both were honorably discharged with service-connected disabilities, continuing the family’s legacy of service.

His dedication extended far beyond Chapter 30. Carroll served the broader veterans’ community with steadfast leadership and compassion. His roles included Commander of the DAV South Carolina Department, Commander of the National Blind Chapter, and 9th District National Executive Committee Alternate. Among his many honors were South Carolina DAV Commander of the Year and the Key to the City of Myrtle Beach, presented by Mayor John Rhodes.

At the time of his passing on March 18, 2016, Carroll was serving his third year as Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the DAV South Carolina Department.

Well known throughout Myrtle Beach, the surrounding communities, and across the state, Carroll earned the respect of all who knew him or collaborated with him. His leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to fellow veterans continue to be remembered with deep gratitude.
