AZ DAV Teams with VFW, The Legion, & UAV to fight for Claim Shark bill revision SB1803, a bi-partisan bill sponsored by Sen. Gowan and Sen, Sears seeks to limit the ability of "Claim Sharks" to prey on Disabled Veterans. A delegation of the state leadership from DAV, VFA, UAV, and The Legion jointly discussed the need for revision to require VA accreditation for working with Veterans on claims or appeals to the VA. The current form of the bill allows non-accredited individuals and organizations to continue to operate under loose, essentially unmonitored conditions. Requiring VA accreditation protects Veterans by requiring education, examination, continuing education, reaccreditation exams, and following a fee schedule approved by the VA. Without the accreditation requirement, we are opposed to the bill.

I shared our CSO Tablet Kit initiative that enables CSOs to get out of the Chpater House and serve Veterans where THEY are, as well as our initiavtive bringing services to our Native American Veterans throughout Arizona. We will be going out to their meeting to do a formal presentation to the entire club on May 7th. They expressed their appreciation for our work and made a $4,500 donation to Department to help us serve our Veteran community!

New remote claims program expands lifeline for Navajo Nation and rural Arizona veterans A major part of the DAV Department of Arizona $30,000 Remote Claims Station project is to provide connectivity with Chapter and Department Service Officers via videoconference. On March 2nd, Past Chapter Commander and Department Adjutant | CEO Carl Forkner successfully conducted seven remote claims sessions with Navajo Veterans and surviving spouses, with four claims being written, two requests for DD-214s, and three were provided information and links to additional resources to assist them with their needs, including the National DAV Caregiver Program. Many thanks to Craig McKee from ABC15 Phoenix for coming to the DAV Department of Arizona office to observe the remote claim program in action and also learn more about the other half of our initiative to provide remote service to Veterans--a $50,000 investment over two years, outfitting Service Officers with Windows 11 or iPad tablets, keyboard cases, and styluses that enable them to provide services away from the Chapter House to homebound, hospitalized, hospice care, and transportation challenged Veterans and their survivors.

Officer Election Reports - Installation and Revisions Effective August 1, 2025, you will be expected to use the electronic, web-based form to submit installation and revision OERs. This form is more complete than the paper form, as it provides information on your DEC and Alt DEC which are not on the paper form. Remember, OERs must be submitted within 10 calendar days from a change in Chapter leadership.
Officers should verify their contact information before the Chapter submits the OER. If the information is incorrect, the officer will need to go to mydav.org and access their personal profile to update the incorrect data. This is essential for Department to be able to contact you for DEC issues and other official business.
Thanks for your cooperation!
