Message from Department Commander - April 2026

Members of the Department of Washington

This is a Formal Invitation

Dear DAV leaders and members,

Your department leaders extend our warmest wishes for a successful and meaningful department convention. This year it is being held in Pasco, WA. The body at the 2022 Department Convention chose this location

Our Chairman of the Time and Place Committee explored options in the area and located a great and affordable option for us all. The Red Lion Hotel & Conference Center Pasco. We need your help to make it a success. So, we are getting the word out early so you can plan for it and attend. The following are booking instructions for phone and online bookings. To book online, please follow this link:

1. Ask the front desk agent to make a reservation at the Pasco Red Lion

2. Let them know you are with the Disabled American Veterans June 2026 Convention

3. Give them the group block code DAMV0622

4. Complete individual reservation with agent.

Please keep in mind that the cut-off date to book a room is Tuesday, May 26th, 2026.

* This rate is not guaranteed at third party booking sites such as expedia.com and hotels.com.

We realize it is a bit of a trip for some of us, but we need to see if we can get a Chapter reestablished in the Tri-Cities. Check in will be available on 22 June and CSO/DSO training will be held on the 23rd. The evening of the 23rd will be the Opening of the SEC. On 24 June we will hold our joint opening with the Banquet that evening. Elections closing the Convention and then closing the SEC will take place on the 25th.

The Hotel is going to be $130 plus tax per night for a deluxe King or two Queens; there are restaurants in the hotel (yes and a bar for those who want to know) and many amenities. The cost for the Banquet will be between $35.00 which is less than what we have been paying.

This event is a celebration of your tireless dedication throughout the year and a powerful platform to address the issues that matter most to the veterans and families we serve. Now more than ever, our brothers and sisters rely on us, and we have no doubt that your commitment will continue long after the convention concludes.

Your efforts are the foundation of DAV’s success, and your unwavering dedication brings hope and support to those who have sacrificed for our nation. This annual gathering is both a moment to reflect on our shared achievements and an opportunity to collaborate on new ways to strengthen our mission.

We encourage you to fully engage in the planned events, connect with fellow veterans and DAV members, and exchange ideas that will help shape the future of our organization. This convention is not just a meeting, it is a chance to build relationships, share knowledge and inspire one another. We will be passing out recognition awards at the banquet this year and providing a great

On behalf of your fellow members, thank you for your passion and commitment. The decisions made and discussions held here will have a lasting impact on veterans and their families in your communities. The journey from military service is ongoing, and as veterans serving veterans, we stand together with empathy, dedication, and resolve. Keep up the incredible work, knowing that your efforts are truly valued by those you serve.

Sincerely,

Stanley K. Gunno

Commander
