The VA Voluntary Service (VAVS) has been renamed the Center for Development and Civic Engagement (CDCE), with the goal of attracting a wider range of nonprofit and professional groups to volunteer. The CDCE is now the official name for the national VAVS office, and the VAVS program continues to operate under this new framework, with the acronym "VAVS" sometimes still used to refer to the program within the CDCE structure.
