On Thursday November 5, 2026 from 9 am - 3 PM , We will host a Claim Clinic at the Airmen Memorial Building (AFSA) at 5211 Auth Rd. in Suitland, Maryland. Please announce this important information to any claimants that desire to file a claim or an appeal through the VA; and also review the attach flyer.

Here is the updated 13Oct26 schedule for our volunteers to choose a date or dates to assist the chapter in our Golden Corral Fundraising Campaign. Contact 1st Junior Vice Commander Frank Pierce to let him know if you can assist the chapter in this effort. This fundraising campaign is crucial to paying for activities that you no longer are asked to pay for yourself (for example, the Installation of Officers, Membership Roundups, Holiday party). [1, 2] Recognized Illnesses from Barracks and Base Exposures - Asbestos-Related Diseases: The military and VA recognize and compensate veterans who developed illnesses from asbestos, which was heavily used in insulation, floor tiles, roofing, and construction materials in WWII-era Army and military barracks. Recognized conditions include:
- Mesothelioma (an aggressive cancer of the lining of the lungs or abdomen)
- Lung Cancer
- Asbestosis (chronic lung scarring and breathing impairment) [1, 2]

On Sunday, December 13, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM, the Department will host it's annual holiday celebration. This year, the theme will be an "Ugly Sweater" competition. So, wear your ugliest holiday sweater for this event, which will be held at the American Legion Post 22,.125 York Road, Towson, MD. Food and refreshments as well as games and a 50/50 raffle will be held to entertain you. For more details, contact the Department at dav_hq@davofmd.org.

- Department staff meeting will commence at 10:00 am - The DEC meeting will start promptly at 11:00 am - Lunch will be provided at 12:00 pm
