2024 Golden Corral Volunteer Schedule Posted

Greetings Comrades!

Thanks to all who have come and volunteered to support our Golden Corral Fundraising Campaign, thus far!

Senior Vice Commander (SVC) Robert Young, who is coordinating this effort for the chapter, very much appreciates who have volunteered this year but wants you to know that our work is not done until the final week of our campaign. Therefore, we continue to seek other members to come forward and join our team efforts to complete this fundraising campaign, when your schedule permits.

Please read the attached chapter materials operations procedures before signing up. Contact SVC Young if you have the time to join us on this opportunity. He can be reached at (301) 789-5810 or citychampions2@outlook.com. You can download the schedule, fill in the schedule for the day or days desired, save it to your device and then send the attachment to SVC Young. It's just that easy!

Thanks for all you do to support programs and activities that benefit the men and women who have served!

***Chapter Service Officers*** Roles and Responsibilities
Greetings Comrades! Need help when filing a claim with the Department of Veterans Affairs? If so, who can help you to undergo this process, then call out your Chapter Service Officers (CSOs). What is it that CSOs do? In everything we do, DAV has one goal—provide all injured and ill veterans and their dependents the best service and most professional claims representation available from any source. Keeping this in mind, it is imperative for us to reach out to those who need our assistance. Chapter service officers (CSOs) are an integral part of this goal, as specifically outlined in Goal 1 of our Strategic Plan. Any DAV member is eligible for certification when recommended by the appropriate chapter. There is a Service Officer Nomination Form that must be used by chapters to nominate members to attend this annual training. DAV has a required training program for CSOs, which is designed to enhance the knowledge and professionalism of the CSOs and help us provide the best service possible to our clients. The training consists of classroom instruction by a national service officer. The participants learn about DAV’s mission, history and various programs. In addition, they are instructed in the proper use of appropriate forms and the steps in processing claims, as well as their legal and ethical responsibilities to clients. Upon successful completion of the training, participants receive certification as a chapter service officer and the certification expires after 18 months if the CSO hasn’t attended another certification class held by the national service office. The certification training instruction is a fulfilling learning experience, and the CSOs gain a rewarding experience from their dedication to DAV’s mission of service and caring for injured and ill veterans, their dependents and survivors. Chapter 17 has four (4) Service Officers available to assist you. Comrades Georgia Eaves, Robert Young, Inez Dent, and David Stevens (photo attached). To contact your Chapter CSOs, click the link on the bottom of this announcement link.
