Veterans Food Assistance Program

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation's (DVNF) goal to ensure that no veteran goes hungry by providing essential food assistance and household support, fostering stability and well-being in the lives of our veterans and their families. Their Veterans Food Assistance Program (VFAP), which begins again on 1 November 2025, is designed to provide a one-time grant of essential food and household support to veterans and their families.

Veterans can apply for assistance through their online application form:  https://www.dvnf.org/veteran-food-assistance-program/. Veterans will need to provide proof of veteran status, proof of income, and information on household size. Once approved, the DVNF Program Team will take care of the grocery shopping based on the specified list.

How to apply for a Veteran ID Card
A Veteran ID Card (VIC) is a digital form of photo ID you can use to get discounts offered to Veterans at many restaurants, hotels, stores, and other businesses. You may be eligible if you meet both of these requirements. You served on active duty, in the Reserves, or in the National Guard (including the Coast Guard), and you received an honorable or general discharge (under honorable conditions). If you received an other than honorable, bad conduct, or dishonorable character of discharge, you’re not eligible for a Veteran ID Card. If you have an uncharacterized or unknown discharge status, The VA will have to verify your eligibility before they approve your application. You’ll need to provide a copy of your discharge papers when you apply for a VIC to prove your character of discharge. You can apply online: https://www.va.gov/records/get-veteran-id-cards/vic/

Join Maine's Driving Force - The DAV Transportation Network!
The Maine DAV Transportation Network received two new 2023 Ford Explorers last Summer. These 4-wheel drive vehicles replaced two 2011 E-350 vans that had logged hundreds of thousands of miles transporting Maine veterans to Togus VA Medical Facility. With this upgrade to our fleet, "Maine's Driving Force" of volunteer drivers continues to provide safe, reliable (and stylish!) rides to the men and women who served. Would you like to drive these new 4-wheel drive vehicles? Become a DAV Driver! Go to: https://www.facebook.com/DAVVTN to learn how!
